2024 Membership fees are now due.

Membership is per person or family.

Friends or other interested parties are welcome to attend as guests of members.

Membership includes access to monthly meetings, monthly E-newsletters, journal, fern sales, fern identification, sourcing of ferns and general ferny info.

The Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”), is effective from 1 July 2021.

POPIA promotes the protection of personal information. All natural and juristic persons must be POPIA compliant.

The Fern Society of southern Africa prioritises the protection of your personal information, therefore, we will only collect, use, and retain your personal information, if there is a lawful purpose for doing so and we will follow the provisions of POPIA in doing so.

The Society collects and uses personal information to fulfill the objectives of the Society:
 
To arrange meetings and distribute newsletters and other Society related services;

To supply you with information that is pertinent to your membership, or information regarding our meetings;

To correspond with you and collect a record of our interactions with you and your interactions with us;

To tell you about any changes to the Society, the Privacy Notice, or other changes which we consider pertinent;

For any separate reasons pertinent to our pursuits of Society objectives if they follow the law and as consented by you.

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you. You also have the right to ask us to update, correct or delete your personal information. We will take all reasonable steps to confirm your identity before providing details of your personal information or making changes to your personal information.

The Society will take reasonably practicable steps to ensure that the personal information is complete, accurate and up to date where necessary.

We will continuously review our security controls and processes to ensure that your personal information is secure. 

No personal information is or will be shared with any third parties. If a request for personal information is received, the request will be forwarded to the relevant member to consent or personally make contact.
